Leaving aside purely manipulative skills, What makes a 'Good Rider'?How would we define or measure this?
Can it be measured? Is a 'Good Solo Rider' a Good Group Rider'?What are the differences in skills required?
What are the skills required to be a good group rider? Are any skills learnt or used on the track transferable to group riding? Are in fact track skills detrimental to 'Good' Group riding? Are ANY track skills (aside from purely manipulative skills) transferable to road riding?Discuss

Everyone reckons they are a good rider lol. To prove you are a good rider you need to check two things, are you still alive and what is your insurance excess. That's my two bobs worth.

Ah, but there you go. I certainly don't class myself as 'good'. Average at best.
Still alive is a reasonable test I guess, I know others use the " how long since you crashed" method of determining skill levels.
For my 2 bobs worth, I would humbly suggest that one trait of a 'good' rider is that they are constantly trying to improve.

I think you can class yourself as better than average if you haven't chucked it down the road too many times. Staying upright is my main objective. Riding ability is a subjective thing. We have all witnessed things that make you scratch your head (after you take your helmet off). As I get older, riding in traffic really spooks me. That's why I'm glad the rides don't start at Todd road, that's torturous and dangerous getting there.IMO

That'd be right. As soon as I mention I don't like starting from Todd Rd because of the scary Monash traffic, Kim is leading a ride from , guess where? haha
