The cast: Joe & Mary, David & Cindy, Bruce & Wendy, Travis & Kylie, Rene, Sue, Bronny, Julie, Armando, Graham, Graeme, Glen, Lance, Laurie, Greg, Travis and Dean. Friday the 30th Sept. The forecast was only slightly better than it had been for the past week, and if I wasn't leading, probably would have pulled out. That would have been a big mistake as it was in sunshine that we left Pakenham McDonalds and slid along the old Sale road to Moe. We did cop a light shower coming into town, but the pub was open and scones, jam and clotted cream was the go. The Macalister Hotel in Maffra is always a reliable lunch stop

Looked like this after lunch and the radar showed a band around Bairnsdale, but it stayed fine almost all the way to Bruthen. We did a detour from Bairnsdale with Laurie Biddle (who joined us at Maffra) leading us to Swan Reach and to his place there. Not sure what the neighbours thought of 18 bikes rolling into his cul-de-sac, but guess he won't be bothered for a while Light drizzle in Bruthen and the radar showed rain up to Omeo, so we sat there for 30 odd minutes and waited it out. That gave us an almost completely dry run up that sensational bit of road, and we did the little detour along Swifts Creek east road, then through Cassilis the back way into Omeo to arrive around 4:30.

Saturday 1st October:Nice looking morning but wayyyyy to early Hearty breakfast and off to Mitta Mitta. Forecast was for rain, but it was actually the cloud we ran into with big fat drops of water, and cold. Oh, and just a light sprinkling of snow on the road to keep everyone on their toes. We peaked to early in the day as the home made sausage rolls at the general store were just coming out as we left, and the pub wasn't yet open. We gave away the idea of the run up to Dartmouth Dam as it was still drizzling, and some wanted to get back for that 'Running, jumping, kicking' game. We stopped at the Blue Duck Inn in Anglers Rest for lunch; what a great feed and an excellent stop. Some of the locals thought we may be better off with training wheels for the run through the snow, but everyone did just fine. A few left early to make sure they had a good seat for the Football, but the rest of us did a run around 30kms up the C545 towards Corryong just because we could. The first few Kms of that are just sensational, then long straight stretches until the impending drizzle signalled enough. There are still some 67 kms of that road unsealed up the northern end, it will be sensational if / when it is ever sealed.
